Brickhouse Food & Drink

This project entailed a comprehensive exterior and interior renovation of a three-level structure located in the historic core of Downtown White Bear Lake, Minnesota. The scope encompassed a full architectural and structural intervention from the basement to the second-floor coffered ceiling. Due to the existing basement’s limited head height, excavation of the lower level was required, necessitating extensive foundation underpinning and reinforcement of the original sandstone walls.

The first and second floors were completely reprogrammed to accommodate a new commercial kitchen, dual-level bar, elevator, and a feature steel staircase serving as the visual and spatial centerpiece of the interior. Exterior work involved the reconstruction of the façade with hand-crafted brick detailing, architectural lighting, new storefront columns, and historically informed window and cornice elements. The original metal cornice at the parapet was carefully restored as a key heritage feature. At the rear, a new façade and rooftop terrace were introduced to expand outdoor dining opportunities.
