City of Sioux Falls Wayfinding
The City of Sioux Falls, in coordination with its newly established City Administration Building, commissioned a comprehensive wayfinding system for the downtown campus, encompassing all central government buildings. Following multiple iterations with a city committee, the design concept was finalized to address both clarity and accessibility.
While the primary intent of the project was to provide clear and legible information for motorists navigating the downtown campus, a key objective was to create a system that also serves pedestrians. The internally illuminated signage provides directional guidance and features a map of the downtown area with highlighted building locations. Key building information is displayed along the sign’s spine in a vibrant yellow, enhancing visibility and legibility. By thoughtfully considering scale, hierarchy, and placement, the design functions effectively for drivers while simultaneously enriching the pedestrian experience, reinforcing connectivity and orientation throughout the urban environment.
